On the Frontline: Prospects of the Greek Economy
Every CEO and entrepreneur should monitor closely the developments both in global and Greek economies since such knowledge facilitates better-informed decision-making. In this context, we invited Mr Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece, for a second consecutive year to share his valuable insights during another meaningful "On the Frontline" event on the 29th of April in our ClubHouse.
Presentation of current facts and updates
Mr Stournaras started with a brief but compact presentation on the global and Greek economies, highlighting key measurable indicators and moderate predictions for the near future. Despite the political and economic instability at the international level plus the ongoing geopolitical upheavals in the region, the Greek economy continues to grow at higher levels than the EU average, constantly decreasing inflation, increasing foreign investments, and, through careful and successful planning and implementation of a fiscal policy, upgrading the country's credit ratings. These rather optimistic facts and circumstances, though, should not allow us to let our guard down since both the EU and Greece need to address key challenges, including but not limited to bureaucracy and several restrictions that ultimately act as heavy "tariffs" on the manufacturing and services sectors, the delay in the capital markets unification, the low productivity, the talent gap and the ageing demographics.
